Lee Parks & Recreation recently organized a "non-competitive" soccer program in Lee County (the organizer is Don Williams). They had around 180 kids, ages 4-9, consisting of 15 teams signed up to participate and already practicing. Games will be played at Leeman Field (in Pennington) on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays at 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend games. Practice locations are in Jonesville, Pennington Gap, Rose Hill, and Stickleyville. Signups were to last "through this week" according to the paper. Not sure when that ends exactly, but you could find out from someone like Don. Opening ceremonies will be July 7th at 10 a.m. with a parade into Leeman Field. Plans are to expand the league to ages 10-12 next year and eventually 13-15.
